How to Live a Life For Christ

Living the 10X Life: What Four Teenagers in Captivity Can Teach Us About Bold Faith

What does it mean to live a 10X life for Christ? According to leadership coach and author Carlos Rosales, the answer lies in an unexpected place: four teenage boys living in captivity in ancient Babylon.

In this powerful episode of the Real Men Connect podcast, Carlos shares how the story of Daniel, Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego, inspired his devotional book, 10X for Christ: Discovering Your 10X Lifestyle in Jesus Christ. These young men, despite being prisoners in a foreign land and far from home, demonstrated a level of boldness and faith that put most of us to shame—choosing vegetables and water over the king's delicacies, refusing to bow to idols even when facing a fiery furnace, and continuing to pray despite death threats.

Carlos asks the challenging question: "If 17-18-year-old boys can walk with that kind of boldness, what's keeping us from doing that?"

Three Key Highlights:

3 Key Highlights from This Episode:

1. The Foundation Matters: Four Pillars of Transformation - Carlos breaks down the first section of his 52-week devotional, focusing on four foundational principles: God's love, prayer, community, and perseverance. He emphasizes that true transformation doesn't happen overnight—it's a daily journey of learning to see yourself through Christ's eyes rather than through the lens of your past, your failures, or other people's opinions. As someone who grew up with an alcoholic father and struggled with self-worth well into adulthood, Carlos speaks from hard-won experience about the power of accepting God's forgiveness and understanding your identity in Christ.

2. The Secret Weapon We All Have (But Rarely Use) - One of the most practical insights Carlos shares is about the constant negative self-talk we all experience—"You're not smart enough, you're too old, you're not worthy." His solution? Talk back to that voice. He teaches the men he coaches to write their prayers daily, keeping them focused and preventing their minds from drifting. Carlos also stresses the importance of speaking Scripture back to those negative thoughts, reminding us that we have "the living God inside of us, so why should we be timid or lack confidence?" The real battle, he notes, is busyness—"the busyness is the enemy of spirituality."

3. Real Strength Means Real Vulnerability- When Dr. Joe Martin asks Carlos what he'd tell his son about whether men should show emotional vulnerability to women, Carlos's answer might surprise you. He points to Jesus—the shortest verse in the Bible is "Jesus wept." Real strength, Carlos explains, isn't physical or emotional toughness; it's "being who God created you to be." He has no problem showing vulnerability to his wife, family, and friends. The real test of strength? Taking a stand for Christ and what we believe when it goes against cultural norms. It's a powerful reframe of masculinity that every man needs to hear.

Carlos closes with a vision that gave me goosebumps: an annual 10X for Christ conference where believers from around the world gather to learn how to live boldly for Jesus—think Grant Cardone's massive business conferences, but for the Kingdom of God.
